2.1 Adverbs and Adverb Phrases

06/04/2010 08:22

Adverbs are words such as: slowly, happily, terribly, well, always, never, sometimes, very, then, etc.

Adverbs are used to say how, when, where or how often something happens.

They can change the meaning of adjectives, other adverbs, verbs or whole sentences.

Adverb phrases have the same grammatical function as adverbs, they consist of more than one word: last month, the day before yesterday, from time to time, next week, in the kitchen, etc.

  • He climbs very well.
  • They smile happily.
  • He can run quickly.
